Balmoral Stadium will host most of Aberdeen FC’s ‘home’ Reserve and Youth League matches
COVE Rangers are delighted to confirm Balmoral Stadium will host most of Aberdeen FC's 'home' Reserve and Youth League matches in the coming season.
The Dons have chosen to play the majority at Cove to ensure more of their Red Army of supporters will have the opportunity to watch the teams in action.
In previous seasons, Dons fans had to travel to the likes of Peterhead, Brechin, Forfar and North Lodge Park, Pittmedden, if they wanted to see Pittodrie's rising stars in action.
The Reserve League games will be played on Monday afternoons and Youth League ones on Friday afternoons, although they are subject to change.
The revamped Reserve League, which allows clubs to use over age players, also raises the possibility of some of the Dons first team squad featuring in games staged at Balmoral.
Dons Reserve and Youth team manager Paul Sheerin said: "We are delighted to have a base to play out of for the entire season.
"It will be better for the players and our preparations for the games.
"Having to search about for a pitch that was free to host them, as we had to before, was far from ideal.
"Hopefully, the move back to Aberdeen will also give more of our fans the chance to come along and support the side."
Cove chairman Keith Moorhouse said: "We have long standing, good, relationship with Aberdeen and are pleased they have chosen Balmoral Stadium to house the matches.
"I'm sure the people of Cove will welcome the chance to have them played on their doorstep."
The first match at Balmoral is tomorrow, 4pm kick off, against Motherwell in the Scottish Youth League.
The first Reserve League match scheduled is against Falkirk on Monday August 27, 2pm.
