YOUTH development boss Gary Hake has praised the Cove Rangers youngsters for a "fantastic victory" away to Kelty Hearts in the Scottish Youth Cup.
A double from top scorer Cameron Carnie and singles by Conan Kennedy and Matthew Tough gave the Cove colts a well deserved triumph down in Fife, against opponents who had beaten Partick Thistle at the same venue in the earlier rounds.
Gary said: "it's a fantastic result earned by an outstanding team performance.
"The lads did the club proud."
KENNEDY fired Cove into the lead after just one minute.
CARNIE then netted in the fourth and 12th minutes to stun their hosts.
Gary said: "We are pleased the players followed the game plan perfectly.
"Kelty clearly didn't expect us to be taking the game at them from the off.
"To find ourselves 3-0 up inside 12 minutes was simply marvellous."
Kelty pulled a couple of goals back before TOUGH made it 4-2 in the 60th minute, with the goal of the game.
Dylan Forsyth beat a couple of opponents in the middle of the park then laid the ball off to Tough, who beat the Kelty keeper with a sublime lob from fully 25 yards.
"You will struggle to see many better goals," said Gary, who is the club's youth development officer.
Kelty got their third in the 65th minute but the Cove youngsters then defended strongly to see the game out.
