CLASH OF THE GERS AS COVE YOUNGSTERS GET BUMPER DRAW IN LAST EIGHT OF SCOTTISH YOUTH CUP
COVE Rangers were this morning drawn away to Glasgow Rangers in the last I eight of the Scottish Youth Cup.
The Cove Colts won 1-0 away to Haddington Athletic earlier this month to make it through to the quarter finals of the competition for the first time in the club's history.
Cove head of youth development Gary Hake said: "We would obviously have preferred a home draw but facing one of the biggest clubs in the country will be a great experience for our lads.
"Rangers will start as huge favourites but we are proud to be flying the flag for semi professional football and will give it our best shot."
The tie is due to be played on the weekend beginning Friday January 25. Gary hopes it can go ahead on that date.
"It would prevent our lads having to face full time players after having also turned out for our club sides on the Saturday," he said.
"it would come with the problem of getting the players off school, work or college, but we managed to do that for the Friday night trip to Haddington, so I'm sure we could sort that out for a game of this magnitude."
The full draw for the last eight is:
Dundee v Celtic
Hibs v Queens Park
Aberdeen v Kilmarnock
Glasgow Rangers v Cove Rangers
