COVE MIDFIELD ACE SAM DETERMINED TO MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME AFTER PENNING NEW DEAL WITH CLUB
TOP TALENT: Midfielder Sam Burnett has signed on for a further two years.
COVE Rangers are delighted to confirm midfielder Sam Burnett has signed a two year extension to his current deal with the club.
it means the 22-year-old former Arbroath player will be at Balmoral Stadium until at least the summer of 2021.
Sam, who is now back in full training after close to a ŷear on the sidelines because of a cruciate ligament injury, said: "I couldn't be happier after all I've been through over the last few months."
Sam suffered the knee injury playing against Strathspey Thistle at Harlaw Park last March.
He had surgery in June to repair the damage to his left knee and finally returned to playing with a 30 minute cameo during last week's Aberdeenshire League clash with Banks o' Dee at Balmoral Stadium.
"I was shattered but it was brilliant just being back out there on the pitch and all I want to do now is make up for lost time," said Sam.
"It would be great if I could make it back into the first team this season but I know that will be tough because the lads are in great form at the moment."
Cove manager John Sheran said: "I'm delighted Sam has made a long term commitment because he's a player we rate very highly.
"He had been in tremendous form prior to suffering his injury and has been sorely missed.
"it's great he's now fully recovered and working to back to full fitness, as is Grant Campbell.
"Having those two competing for starting places will be a huge boost as we move into the crucial part of the campaign
