COVE Rangers are delighted to confirm Manchester United legend Roy Keane has agreed to be the guest speaker at the club's annual festive lunch.
The former captain of the English football giants will entertain a sold out audience at the Marcliiffe Hotel, Pitfodels, on Friday November 30.
Keane replaces his ex-United team-mate Gary Neville, who was due to speak at the lunch but is now unable to because of his media commitments.
Cove chairman Keith Moorhouse said: "We've been told this will be Roy's first visit to Aberdeen as a guest speaker.
"We are sure it will be another fantastic afternoon's entertainment in the company of a true football legend."
Keane is now the assistant manager to Martin O'Neill with the Republic of Ireland squad and is one of the most decorated Irish footballers in the history of the game.
He won 19 major honours in his playing career, 17 of which were claimed when he was the inspirational figure in the heart of the United midfield.
Sir Alex Ferguson appointed Keane as captain of United in 1997 until he left Old Trafford in 2005.
He then joined Celtic but retired around a year later.
Keane, who was also capped 67 times for his country, has gone on to become a popular television pundit, who is never afraid to speak his mind.
He follows in the footsteps of the likes of Ryan Giggs and Alan Shearer, who are among the long list of top sporting personalities who have spoken at Cove's festive lunch, which is now a major highlight on the north-east sporting calendar
