FRASER DELIGHTED TO GET OFF THE MARK AS COVE RANGERS CONTINUE STRONG START TO LEAGUE TWO CAMPAIGN
GOAL HERO: Fraser Fyvie slots the ball home before running off to celebrate with his Cove Rangers team-mates.
COVE Rangers midfielder Fraser Fyvie was pleased to net his first goal for the club in the 2-1 Ladbrokes League Two victory over Stirling Albion at Forthbank Stadium.
Fraser scored the first half opener and helped create the second - for Matty Smith - as Cove survived a late fight back by Albion to secure a victory that keeps them top of the table, with four matches played.
The clash was played in baking hot conditions at sun-soaked Forthbank, but it was Cove who coped the best to emerge with all three points, with former Aberdeen and Hibs star Fraser capping a fine personal performance with a cool finish after being set-up by skipper Mitch Megginson.
Fraser said: “It’s really good to get off the mark and also get an assist, even more so because we won the game.
“I thought we were great for the majority of it, some of our football was fantastic.
“I don’t know what the heat was but it was pretty tough going in the last 15 minutes, which is when Stirling Albion got back into the game a bit.
“But for the other 75 minutes we were pretty dominant and it was a joy to play in.
“We spoke at half-time about how much we were really enjoying ourselves and it was more of the same after we came back out.
“To be fair on Stirling, they then changed their shape a little and went a bit more offensive for the last part of the game.
“But you are always going to get that at some stage away from home, no matter what league you are playing in.
“The main thing is we coped with what they did and got the win we deserved.”
