COVE Rangers made it three wins in a row in the Aberdeenshire League with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Buckie Thistle at Balmoral Stadium this is evening.
First team squad winger Hamish MacLeod was the stand-out performer with a well taken hat-trick.
Top team regular Harry Milne, who is suspended from this weekend's William Hill Scottish Cup clash with Auchinleck Talbot, was also given a run out.
Otherwise it was a very youthful Cove side, which included a first start at under-20 level for teenage striker Cameron Carnie, who has been scoring freely for the under-17s.
He showed some nice touches and was desperately unlucky not to find the net in the first half.
Cove keeper Zak Ellis had made a fine early save before MACLEOD opened the scoring in the 15th minute, with a precise finish from 10 yards.
Macleod then rattled the crossbar with a powerful shot after dancing past three Buckie defenders in a great run through the middle.
The winger wasn't to be denied though and made it 2-0 in the 26th minute  when he drilled a low shot into the bottom corner of the net from 18 yards.
The lively Carnie saw a net-bound shot deflected on to a post by the Buckie keeper before Dylan FORSYTH made it 3-0 when he slotted home from 12 yards.
Despite totally dominating possession, Cove had to wait until the last five minutes before adding to their tally.
MACLEOD completed his treble with a fantastic 18 yard shot that gave the Buckie keeper no chance.
Substitute Adam JOJI completed a great night's work by the home side by battering the ball home from close range after it had rebounded into his path off the woodwork.
The victory keeps Cove well up with the front runners in the race for the league title.
