At Princess Royal Park.

COVE Rangers left-back Ariel Blanksby’s  stunning goal was the highlight of  a comfortable and deserved SHFL Under-17 Youth League victory in Banff.
Blanksby battered home a David Beckham style shot from almost on the half-way line to open the scoring at a stage when it looked as if the game could go either way.
Striker Jamie Boylan then added a hat-trick, with Richie Dunbar and Stephen Holland also scoring as Cove eventually wore down the  Deveronvale youngsters to earn three points that ensured they stayed top of the table.
Cove youth coach Gary Hake was quick to praise young Blanksby, who also plays for Dyce under-16s, for the quality of his goal.
He said: “It was an unbelievable strike.
“I’m really pleased for Ariel because he has been doing well this season and scoring a goal like that will give him a massive lift.
“I had actually spoken to the players before the match about having a go from distance because the weather was poor and it might be difficult for their keeper.
“But I will be honest and admit I wasn’t expecting Ariel to do what he did, it was amazing.
“We never looked back after that goal and I was pleased to finally see us take a few more of our chances than we have been doing of late.
“Vale have been doing well this season, so it was  good to come away from their place with such a comfortable victory.”
Cove keeper Daniel Neish had been called upon to make a couple of excellent saves before the sensational opener arrived in the 33rd minute.
There appeared to be little danger when the Vale keeper cleared the ball from the edge of his area to the half way line but BANKSBY left him stunned by immediately firing an unstoppable 40-yard lob into the net.
Cove made it 2-0 in the 41st minute when Lewis Brand fed the ball through and BOYLAN slid it home from just inside the area.
It was 3-0 in the 44th minute when Cove skipper Michael Hanratty played an excellent pass forward for DUNBAR to net from 14 yards.
Cove got another just on the stroke of half-time when BOYLAN benefitted from yet another piece of fine set-up play by Dunbar.
BOYLAN completed his hat-trick early in the second half, netting from 12 yards after Lewis Brand had cut open the Vale defence with a well weighted pass.
Slack defending then allowed Deveronvale to pull a goal back before Dunbar completed an excellent night’s work from him by sending a cross in from the right for HOLLAND to hammer home Cove’s sixth.
